What is the Community Treatment Order Program?
Gateway works closely with the Niagara Health System to provide Intensive Case Management support to individuals suffering from mental illness in the Niagara Region, many who would otherwise would be shuffled through our hospital system.
How does it work?
Our program is a partnership with the Niagara Health System, physicians and community health professionals that provide comprehensive, individualized care to our consumers in order to gain or regain valuable and meaningful roles in the community. We are dedicated to providing compassionate, sensitive care to our consumers throughout their recovery. Our program uses evidence-based therapeutic principles and approaches with the key goals of reduction of mental health symptoms, enhanced/heightened independence, safe & stable housing, and working toward stronger relationships with family & social networks.
CTO is a provision under the Ontario Mental Health Act (CTO). Our program is monitored by a Ontario Health West Program Manager from Gateway and a coordinated manager working out of NHS in partnership. Consumers are excepted into the program based on criteria.
